The Best Chance To Avoid Lines – Give Up Smoking

The phrase “Smokers Face” was added to the Medical Dictionary in 1985. It is used when talking about the characteristics of wrinkles and lines surrounding the lips and eyes – it also includes the general signs associated with aging, sped along because of smoking.

Despite the media attention and the tens of millions of dollars every year spent on cosmetics and wrinkle treatments, many millions more are spent on the single worst habit to exagerate the problem and make dealing with it worse.

Within the medical community and now the population in general, it is accepted that cigarette smoke (in fact any type of smoking) adversely impacts  our health. It is sometimes less appreciated though that it impacts our skins appearance and through the release of free radicals.

These “imbalanced particles” react with our skin by damaging perfectly healthy cells in the outer layer of skin known as the epidermis The damge they inflict on the skin gets greater over time and as a person ages, the combined affect can be significant.

It isn’t only free radicals which are found in every puff of smoke which affect our appearance. The act of smoking also depletes the level of Vitamin C stored within the body. This essential vitamin is directly involved in the creation of collagen which is a vital component of healthy looking skin.

In addition to this, Vitamin C is also a powerful anti-oxidant which assist greatly in reducing the effect of free radicals. So not only does the skin lose its ability to replenish itself, it also loses a powerful defense against damage in the first instance.

So amongst the thousands of anti aging treatments an easy and methods of avoiding face wrinkles is to stop smoking and reduce your exposure to smoky environments. Of course, there are many other important factors which make the stopping of smoking a great benefit to your health and general wellbeing. It is of course a sound idea not to take it up in the first place!
